The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, in collaboration with its partners, has presented a total of 503 brand new laptops to brilliant but needy students.
The presentation done at the Great Hall of the university on Wednesday July 3 was in line with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision to ‘Support One Needy Student with One Laptop,’ dubbed the ‘SONSOL’ Project.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson in her speech, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to providing inclusive education, ensuring no student is left behind.
She disclosed that since the inception of the SONSOL Project in 2021, cumulatively, applications from almost 10,000 students have been received and a total of 2,302 laptops have been distributed with a monetary value of GHȻ 23,000,000.
“The statistics shared clearly indicate that there is indeed a pressing need to support a lot more of our students to succeed,” Professor Dickson said.

On behalf of the university management, Professor Dickson expressed her appreciation to the donors for their instrumental roles in the success of the SONSOL Project.
”We want to encourage many more donors to come and help. No contribution is too small. Your generous contribution of one laptop will change the fortunes of one of these transformational leaders who are determined and committed to turning their fortunes around to serve humanity,” Professor Dickson said.
