
Ghana’s pre-tertiary school students’ Code of Conduct has been revised by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
For rapid implementation, the revised code has been distributed to all district, municipal, and metropolitan directors of education. According to GES, It has also been sent to managers of educational organizations and heads of schools.
“It is the expectation of management that the strict adherence to the code of conduct will support the schools to achieve their primary tasks of providing inclusive, quality and relevant education to all Ghanaian children,” a circular to all regional directors signed by a Deputy Director General (MS), Stephen Kwaku Owusu, and dated January 4, 2024 said.
The rules of conduct for teachers touches on areas such as Conduct, misconduct, general behavior, flouting lawful authority among others.
“The rules and regulations in the Code should not be regarded merely as a catalogue of offences, and penalties or restraint on students’ freedoms. They are rather meant to ensure that the conditions for effective teaching and learning are created and maintained in the country’s pre- tertiary educational institutions,”part of the code of conduct read.
