The Ghana Supporters Union (GSU) has formally established its website and social media handles in anticipation of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
According to the Union, this is to encourage better communication and engagement with its stakeholders.
Members and supporters attended the unveiling ceremony, which was held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Hall.
The website, which can be accessed at www.ghanasupporters.com is made to offer fans from all over the world, local and distant, a smooth and engaging experience when they want to become part of the active Ghana Supporters community.
The GSU’s General Secretary, Kassim Awal Osman, emphasized the importance of this achievement and the Union’s dedication to international outreach.
“After seven years of unity under one umbrella, we felt it was time to extend our arms to both local and international enthusiasts. Our newly launched website serves as a platform to showcase and exhibit the remarkable work the Ghana Supporters are involved in,” Osman said.
Osman added, “Gone are the days when potential members faced difficulties joining our group due to a lack of means to contact us. Now, anyone wishing to be part of Ghana Supporters can easily visit the website, register, and become a member from the comfort of their homes.”
Osman expressed hope for the AFCON 2024 in Ivory Coast and the Union’s desire to back the Black Stars. He thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for its support and disclosed plans for a sizable group to travel to Abijan by car.
“We’ve been informed that we are going by road. Mustapha Ussif has been very supportive, and this time around, we believe he can arrange about ten buses for us to invade Abijan with our red, gold, and green colours,” Osman concluded.
Fans are invited to follow their official handles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok under the moniker “Ghana Supporters” in order to remain up to date on the newest news and interact with the active Ghana Supporters community.
The GSU is run by a nine-member Executive Board, which includes Osman Kassim Awal as General Secretary, Issaka Moro Polo as Acting President, and a committed group of people in charge of different departments: Mohammed Morrison is in charge of marketing; Swalah Sambo is in charge of protocol and external affairs; Vincentia Kafui Deku is in charge of women’s organizing; and Labaran Sullemana is in charge of security operations and intelligence.
