The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu in the North East Region of Ghana.
The sports Complex was named after the late Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Sheriga. It has in its capacity, auxiliary facilities such as a standard astro turf, a VIP stand, changing rooms and a popular stand with 1000 seating capacity as well as standing areas for future expansion.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the facility will bring sports development for the people and youth of Nalerigu and its surrounding towns and also serve as a recreational centre and a space for diverse social events.
“The Naa Sheriga Sports Complex will only not enhance sports development in the community, it will also be used as a recreational centre, as it can host many social events”, he said.
Dignitaries who joined him in the commissioning of the facility include Ghanaian Football Legends like Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingson and Asamoah Gyan and Emmanuel Armah. He expressed gratitude to them for joining him in the commissioning.
