Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club’s Goal Keeper, Frederick Asare has expressed optimism with his goal keeping skills hoping to keep more clean sheets for the Porcupine Warriors in the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

“Playing nine matches and keeping six clean sheets looks okay but I am not content with that, considering some kind of matches that I could have made better saves…but going forward it is going to be better I believe”, Asare said.
Frederick has risen to become the first choice keeper following the intermittent absence of in the absence of Ibrahim Danlad. He has been capped nine times this season for the team and kept six clean sheets before the close of the first round.
In an interview with the Club’s media, the rising star admitted that, the team had a poor start to the season but in their last seven matches to the end of the first half, the team’s performance has been the best in the league.
“I will like to say we didn’t start well because the team had some difficulties during the pre-season but as you can see getting closer to the end of the first round, we coming up gradually,” Asare said.
On his inability to make it to the AFCON list, the in-form shot stopper said his best season with the team was last season and was sure to have been part of the team if the AFCON was staged in 2023. Comparing his form now, he expressed that, should the tournament be postponed to March, he would definitely make the cut.
“If the AFCON could have happen lets say two months from now, I believe I would be included because I have now gotten my rhythm, and God willing I am coming but however , those who are there deserve it. They are fantastic goal keepers and they deserve it.”
