Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have elected Level 300 Economics student, Frank Owusu, as President of their Students Representative Council (SRC) for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Frank Owusu with this victory will succeed Michael Abuah.

Frank Owusu, in the Presidential race, came up against 4 others and garnered a total of votes, representing 53.84%

Last year, Frank Owusu had declared his intention to run in the Presidential race but lost to Michael Abuah.

Frank Owusu will now has the mandate to fulfill his ambitious promises he has made to KNUST students particularly off campus security.

The victory of Frank Owusu in this year’s KNUST SRC election has been tagged as historic because his win gets KNUST its first female SRC Vice President after 10 years.

Polls ended at some polling stations at 4: 10 pm on Wednesday and 4:50 pm results were declared.

Other winners

Comfort Awuah beat Baaba Mills to become General Secretary-elect.

Francis Anane Gyamfi also won the Financial Secretary position.

In the Women’s Commissioner race, Muad Asare won the election with 25.4%.
