KNUST suspends shuttle services on campus over non-adherence to covid-19 safety protocols

Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has suspended shuttle services on campus due to non-compliance to covid-19 safety protocols.

This follows earlier caution by the University directing all students to observe the COVID-19 safety protocols in campus shuttles and buses.

According to a new release by the University, “Management has noted that there has been blatant disregard for the covid-19 safety protocols governing the operation of shuttle services on campus. In order to protect students from getting infected with the virus, Management has decided to suspend shuttle or bus services from various hostels on campus to the faculty area with immediate effect”, part of the statement said.

However, Students who commute on certain routes are exempted.

Management has noted that there has been blatant disregard for the covid-19 safety protocols governing the operation of shuttle services on campus. In order to protect students from getting infected with the virus, Management has decided to suspend shuttle or bus services from various hostels on campus to the faculty area with immediate effect.

Students who commute on the following routes are however, exempted for now:

1. Ahinsan Gate to Campus

2. Kotei and Boadi

3. Gaza area to campus

4. All students from the college of Health and Allied Sciences(CoHS) who attend lectures at the Boadi new site are also exempted. (The usual pick up stations remain same for these categories of students).

Management will like to place on record that it will not hesitate to suspend bus services to students who ply the above routes if they also flout the laid down protocols set out by the University.

All students/staff are encouraged to continuously adhere to all covid-19 safety protocols outlined by the University at all times to ensure the safety of all members within the University community.
