The Suncity Group of companies in Sunyani in collaboration with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital KATH in Kumasi is set to organise a massive breast cancer screening and awareness creation exercise in Sunyani on October 21st this year.
The exercise is part of the KATH and Suncity group of companies activities this year to beef up awareness creation in the Bono region to commemorate the international breast cancer month of October.

Mrs. Safura Mohammed Suraj Antwi , the Director of Suncity Group of companies and Deputy NPP Bono Regional organizer and the project lead told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Sunyani.
She said the maiden one-day exercise would witness about 15 Doctors and Nurses from the KATH and therefore opened to every woman in the region to take advantage.
According to her, the initiative is aimed at helping to bring relief to women and people of Sunyani through both radio and face to face conscientization about the disease because of its prevalence rate and unavailability of Breast Care Center at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Antwi stated “the health of our people means a lot to us, therefore we must grab any idea, decision or services toward the welfare of the people of Sunyani and the Bono region in general”.
Mrs. Constance Antwi Bosiako, a Registered General Nurse at the Breast Care Center at the KATH in a further interview said the KATH records most breast cancer referral cases from Sunyani because of lack of Breast Care Unit at the Regional Hospital.
She noted most Ghanaian women have low knowledge about the dangers of breast cancer despite the annual awareness creation, hence, the critical need to widen their scope to preserve and prolong human lives in the region.
Mrs. Bosiako stated every female is predisposed to breast cancer among other factors such as heredity, therefore urged women in the Bono Region to take the exercise serious to be diagnosed.
