KNUST SRC requests approval of GHC 50k from DoS to support deferred needy students to pay fees

The Students’ Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST SRC), has on Thursday April 21 requested the Dean of Students (DoS) to approve the withdrawal of GHC 50,000.00 from the SRC coffers.

According to the statement copied to Thriller News GH and signed by both the Financial Secretary, Derek Andy Dadzie, and SRC President, Michael Abuah, the said amount is to aid needy students over academic user fees payment.

“We humbly write to request a summary amount of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis Only (GHC 50,000.00) to serve as financial aid to the needy students over academic user fees payment. Counting on your usual cooperation. Thank you”, the statement read.

The requests follows Thriller News GH’s earlier report about the defferal of over 6000 students from the University.

The Over 6000 students have been asked to defer their programme due to their inability to pay their school fees.

The management of the University has revealed that many of these students used their fees to purchase Uber cars for transport services.

They’ve added that others also used their fees for betting activities as well as setting up bakeries on campus.

The 6000 students owe the university over GHS 55 million.
