NUGS Leadership pays working visit to Minister of National Security, discusses plans to address security issues on campuses

The leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has paid a working visit to the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah, to discuss comprehensively plan to curtail the rise in the instances of robbery and mugging of students on the various campuses.

This comes as part of NUGS role to help the national security deliver on its mandate to Ghanaians : Educational symposiums and seminars on the national security policy.

Recent media reports indicates the rise of insecurity on the various campuses.

The NUGS leadership as part of their visit spoke about security threats on campuses, its environs and called on the minister to help increase security personnel on campuses.

In response, The minister highlighted on the various steps being taken by the ministry to ensure all security threats are identified and curtailed. He also assured the Yiadom Boakye-led NUGS of his readiness to work with them.

He also encouraged the leaders to be non- partisan in their dealing. To cooperate with government but shouldn’t sell their conscience to government and shouldn’t allow themselves to be used as tools for opposition as well.

He was joined by Mr Gumah ( Technical Advisor ) and Mr Asomani ( Deputy National Security Cordinator)
