A level 300 student reading a bachelor of arts degree programme in Sociology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Master Prince Owusu Ansah popularly known as POA has petitioned the Campus MP and Senior Hall Assistant of GUSSS Hostel over an acute water shortage at Brunei.

In a petition to the office of the Campus Mp, GUSSS Hostel Hall Assistant, Prince Owusu Ansah disclosed the negative impacts of the situation on students of the GUSSS Hostel noting that some students have relied on portable water to undertake their daily activities whiles “others look elsewhere” in search of water.

According to him, some students are left with no option than to live days without taking their bath.

“For several days, residents of the aforementioned hostel have not enjoyed a constant supply of water. This has left some going days without bathing. Water supply has been extremely poor on the day to day basis making live of students very miserable. Some residents mostly look elsewhere for water which particularly makes it unbearable for them. Others likewise have to buy portal water to carry out their activities”, he noted.

Prince Owusu Ansah also highlighted the negative effect of lack of water during the covid-19 pandemic on students and how the water situation has deprived residents of observing hand washing safety hygiene and sanitation which forms part of the basic Covid-19 protocols against the spread of the Coronavirus.

He further admonished authorities in charge to look into the situation as a matter of urgency and to take necessary steps to find a remedy to the situation.
