Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has warned against a new fraud and robbery targeting students who stay off-campus.

According to a release by the university, there have been reports of incidence of fraud being perpetrated against KNUST students who stay off-campus by some criminals. These criminals usually pretend to be having misunderstanding about monetary issues upon seeing these students.

They then request the assistance of such innocent students to help them resolve the supposed misunderstanding. In the process, they lure these students to isolated places and then, rob them of their belongings (laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and in some cases money).

This what to look out for:

Students are cautioned to stay on alert and avoid talking to strangers. Students on campus are also advised to refer strangers who seek information from them to the nearest campus security personnel. Students should often walk-in pairs to reduce the risk of being lured or attacked by these criminals.
