Earlier, the SRC released a communique which gave students one week ultimatum to pay their fees and register for their courses ahead of the mid-semester exams. The statement added that management will publish the fees status of students owing fees on all notice boards.

This communique didn’t sit down with some students. Many students lashed the SRC over poor engagements with management over fees payment.

However, in a new release dated 26th February, 2021 and signed by the SRC PRO, Charles Tengan Lwanga, the SRC upon further consultations have reached an agreement with management of the University to allow all students owing fees to register and partake in the upcoming mid-semester examination.

The statement noted that “after the mid-semester examinations, students should endeavour to pay. Those who genuinely cannot pay should write an undertaking to their college accounts through respective department heads indicating a payment plan”.

In furtherance the statement indicated “All college and faculty buses will be in full operation during the mid-semester examination period to transport students to and fro the faculty areas to supplement the already operating shuttles and compensate for the suspension of Uber and bolt services at the faculty area.”

The Library operation has also been extended 24 hours. The buses will be operating at night (between 9pm to 4am) to transport students to and fro the respective hostels off-campus with escort services.
