
Interim Students Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has confirmed plans are underway to conduct SRC Elections.
Background
Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, SRC election activities were put on hold.
This led to the passing of an Interim Student Representative Council (ISRC) Committee Act, 2020 by the KNUST SRC parliament to appoint interim executives for the 2020/2021 academic year.
An act which makes provision for the institution of an Interim Students’ Representative Council (ISRC) until proper electioneering process takes place to elect substantial leaders for the Council.
The Interim Students Representative Committee (ISRC) was made up of five (5) members consisting of a chairperson and four (4) members. The members include a representative from amongst Elected-College Executives, a representative from amongst Elected-Hall Executives, a representative from amongst Elected-Non Residential Executive, a representative from the Institute of Distance Learning and the Clerk of the incoming House.
According to the Interim Student Representative Council (ISRC) Committee Act, elections are to be held within 14 days after continuing students have returned to campus.
Following the directive of the University to welcome the continuing students on January 16 2021, the interim ISRC has revealed in a statement that plans are underway to conduct the SRC elections.
