The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is calling on interested students who are willing to volunteer in its tree-planting initiative.
The exercise which is spearheaded by the office of the Speical Initiative and Development is part of the Council’s activities for the 2019/2020 academic year. The tree-planting project will have students plant over one thousand trees within KNUST and its surrounding communities namely Ayeduase, Bomso, and Ayigya on October 19, 2019.
The SRC in a statement indicated that the tree planting exercise will be a one-day activity aimed at contributing towards the UN global agenda of minimizing the effects of climate change and also an avenue for KNUST to contribute its quota towards the achievement of the SDG goal 11, goal 13 and goal 15.
”The Forestry Commission is sponsoring the implementation of this activity and with the Ghana Association of Students Planners as Partners,” the statement stated.
