The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a nationwide meter audit.
According to a communiqué issued on Jan. 29, this audit will take place within ECG operational areas from Feb. 1 until the end of the year.
The exercise, according to ECG, will entail a comprehensive examination of both the front and back of all postpaid and prepaid meters.

“This special exercise will entail a thorough inspection of the front and back of all postpaid and prepaid meters to authenticate the integrity of the meters within ECG operational areas,” part of the communiqué said.
It highlighted that the ECG has received the mandate from the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI 2413 (2020) to undertake this exercise.
“Therefore, any attempt to physically prevent or deliberately frustrate ECG teams from assessing your assigned meter will lead to the disconnection of the service to your house,” ECG said.
Again, the communiqué urged customers to check and verify the ID cards of ECG teams who visit their premises for the exercise to avoid imposters.
“In this regard, customers are being advised to inspect the ID cards of ECG teams who visit their premises to avoid imposters.”
ECG added that “If in doubt, please contact the ECG call center on 0302 611611 to verify the identity of the teams.”
