An aspiring Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kane Nana Francis aka KNF, has donated several watering Can (buta) to the Muslim community on campus.
The aspirant was accompanied by members of his campaign team for the donation exercise on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Speaking to Thriller News GH in an interview, He said the donation was in line with his corporate social responsibility to see that his Muslim brothers have all the needed resources to aid in their worship.
He said the powerful verses in the Holy Quran encourages him to do more to create a better life and harmonious living in the community.

“In Surah two, verse thirty-three Allah says: “And be steadfast in prayer; practice regular charity, and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship)”. From the Qur’an we learn that giving is simply worth “the reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:274). And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me Prayer and Zakah as long as I remain alive. (Surah Maryam 19:31)”, he said.
According to KNF, the basic thing a Muslim brother and sister need during this moment of fasting is a buta, and as a leader, he thought it wise to donate the items.
The SRC aspirant noted that the items will go a long way to contribute to the spiritual life of the Muslim community on campus.
“The Watering Can (Buta) is very essential for Muslims during the month of Ramadan and very important for the day-to-day activities of a Muslim. By donating these cans, I have not only demonstrated my commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community, but also made it easier for individuals who may not have access to this essential item, to participate in the fasting season”, he said.
“The donation was also made to ease congestion at the mosque during the Ramadan season. With the increasing number of Muslims who attend the mosque during this period, it can become quite crowded, making it difficult for individuals to perform their prayers in a comfortable and peaceful environment. By providing the watering cans, I hope to make the process of breaking the fast less stressful for individuals, thus reducing the congestion at the mosque”, he added.
Kane Nana Francis(KNF) kind gesture and concern for the welfare of students has received great admiration by many.
Others consider the SRC Presidential Aspirant as a leader who can represent the student and champion the interests of the average KNUST student.
Hi KNF, You should have ASKED the muslim leaders what they need instead of providing ablution cans. KNUST mosque doesn’t use kettles, it’s a modern structure and there are mini taps in all the ablution areas which makes kettle useless in that mosque.
