2022 World Cup: Saudi Arabia Declares Public Holiday Today After Defeating Argentina

Saudi Arabia has declared today, 23rd November, 2023 a public holiday after an unprecedented win in their opening game over Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.

The holiday applies to all employees in both public and private sectors, as well as all students across the country.

This forms part of the kind gesture of the Arabian government to celebrate its historic win and to keep its national team ahead of other competitions in the games.

Saudi Arabia beat title favourites Argentina 2-1 at the Lusail Stadium in Doha on Tuesday in one of the greatest World Cup upsets in history.

This isn’t the first time a public holiday has been declared after a World Cup win.

Cameroon’s stellar performance against Argentina in the opening match of 190’s tournament – often referred to as one of the biggest upsets in football history – also saw a holiday declared in Cameroon the very next day.
