A leading Presidential candidate in this year’s SRC Election of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Frank Owusu, has released a statement in response to a rumour circulating on social media platforms.

Few days ago, a statement widely circulated on the various social media platforms had it that the SRC Presidential candidate has CWA issues and has therefore deferred his course.
The statement issued by a group calling itself ‘Concerned Investigative Department’ further added that Frank Owusu decided to resort to some officials in order to cover his CWA issues.
“Master Frank Owusu a deferred student with Index number: 8704419 and Ref number: 20697436 who is peddling claims to be a third year student of Economics has been caught having some shady conversations with some officials purposely to cover up his available Cumulative Weighed Average (CWA) which falls short to even qualify him as an SRC presidential aspirant”, the statement said.

However, Frank Owusu has responded to the claims as false and a propaganda to slow down his quest to lead the student front as the next SRC President.
Setting the record straight in a release on Sunday August 14, Frank Owusu noted that “Within the last semester when the university released a missive to defer about 6000 students for non-payment of 70% of school fees I was part of the number, I however took an advantage of the grace period given to settle my debts after subsequent advocacy by the SRC and other student groups”.
He further clarified that he has no problem with his CWA and therefore in good standing to lead the SRC and come out with policies that will shape the lives of students on campus.
“I want to state emphatically that I have no issues with my CWA or school fees as rumoured”, he said.
He further said it’s time to end the nature of student politics solidly built on lies and falsehood rather than ideas.

“I believe it’s time we changed the narrative surrounding our student politics, to one that is centered on ideas and not falsehood…”.
Frank also called on his supporters, general student populace to disregard any false claims and rally solidly behind him as he is yet to release his policies for the good people of KNUST.
