Students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have welcomed the decision by management to extend the fee payment deadline for 2021/2022 academic year.
Speaking to Thriller News GH after a release by the university announcing the extension of the fee payment deadline, many students expressed satisfaction about the opportunity to continue their education without interruptions while making efforts to meet the new payment deadline.

“I’m very delighted about the decision of management to extend the payment deadline. I was scared of not meeting the earlier deadline and thus subject to automatic deferral of my course. The new deadline will offer me the opportunity to work things around with my parents to pay my fees. I believe many students who are in my situation too are equally happy about the extension of the fee payment deadline”, one of the students told Thriller News GH.
The university management rescinded on its decision to automatically defer students who are unable to pay their fees by Thursday 24 March following a plea by the Students Representative Council who asked for the school to be more considerate.
As a result, the school has extended the deadline from Thursday March 24 to Thursday April 7, 2022.
According to a release by the University, continuing students of the university were supposed to make a payment of the minimum 70% (ie. 50% of tuition and 100% of all other charges).

Following the extension, the Students Representative Council has encouraged students who had not paid to take advantage of the opportunity.
The university in a statement noted that there will be no further extension.
