Chairman of the Students Representative Council’s (SRC) Electoral Commissioner (EC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Master Obeng Emmanuel Awuah Gyimah has given aspirants who have resolved to pasting campaign posters at unauthorized places on campus 24-hour ultimatum to remove all posters.

According to him, aspirants who fail to do so at the said time, will pay a heavy fine or face automatic disqualification.

At a press conference held by the Commission on Sun May 16, the SRC’s Electoral commissioner said his outfit is keen on seeing what it says should be a level electoral playing field and fair to the system and students that they adhere to rules and regulations.

“Before a banner or pull-up is erected at any area on campus, permission has to be sought from the KNUST estate office before such exercise can proceed”, he said.

Among the EC’s demands is that aspirants can only paste on Notice Boards after they’ve been granted permission from various Hall and College Executives.

The Dean of Students has also reiterated that the university is running a ‘paperless system’ of information dissemination for its elections.

The EC has therefore charged all aspirants and stakeholders of the electoral process to do what is right and be adherent to the rules of the process since they’re all role models people look up to.
