
The Students Representative Council of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA-SRC) has cautioned students of the University to be careful with movements on and off campus.
In a release dated 11th March, 2021 with reference no. SRC/NOT/0038 and signed by the SRC Chairman, Master Prince Wade Nartey, he noted that issues of insecurity ranging from rape and the snatch of valuables from students on and off campus by unknown criminals have been reported.
“Two female students have been raped, according to reports, thieves on motorcycle have been snatching monies, phones and other gadgets belonging to students during night time”, the statement said.
The SRC has therefore assured students of positioning security personnel at vantage points as an initiative to curtail the menace.
Meanwhile, students have been warned to limit physical cash transactions and resort to other technological advances.
“We will also urge students to avoid texting or making phone calls whilst on the streets to their respective destinations and we want to urge students to stay vigilant at all times”, the statement added.
