Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have elected Level 500 Doctor of Optometry, Samuel Sesah, as President of their Students Representative Council (SRC) for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Samuel Sesah with this victory will succeed Mr. Adu Baah Charles.
Samuel Sesah, in the Presidential race, came up against 2 others and garnered a total of votes, representing 87.56%
Last year, Samuel Sesah had declared his intention to run in the Presidential race but lost to Adu Baah Charles.
Samuel Sesah will now has the mandate to fulfill his ambitious promises he has made to KNUST students particularly accommodation crises.
The organization of this year’s KNUST SRC election has been tagged as historic, following the effect of the covid-19 which halted the election last year, legal battle between the EC and some students over exclusion of first years in the election etc.
Among all the challenges, election has successfully come to an end with strict observance of the covid-19 protocols.
Polls ended at some polling stations at 5: 40 pm on Thursday and 6:30 pm results were declared.
Other winners
Stephanie Ofori Prempeh beat Matilda Kodua to become General Secretary-elect.
Osei Ofosu Solomon also beat Jean Otoo Jnr and King Bright Agbewu to be elected the Financial Secretary.
In the Women’s Commissioner race, Rabiatu Siakah won the election.
