KNUST outlines new measures to reduce traffic congestion on campus

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has outlined new measures aimed at reducing traffic congestion on campus.

This comes after the University expressed worry over the traffic congestion at its faculty areas since the reopening of school.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar (General Administration), Daniel Kumi Djan, the University at an emergency meeting of Transport Management Committee held on Tuesday 26th January 2021, outlined the following measures to reduce the traffic congestion during the mornings and at peak hours:

(a) Designated car parks for Uber, Bolt, and other ride-hailling companies

The following car parks have been designated as terminal points for all Uber, Bolt, and other ride-hailling companies;

• The car park on Poku Transport Road(near Agric Junction)

•The car park at Unity Hall

(b) Display of University Stickers/Staff ID Cards

•All Staff of the University with vehicles are expected to display the University Staff Stickers on their windscreen.

•University Staff are to carry their Staff identity cards with them always for identification purposes.

•Students with vehicles are to register them at the Dean of Students Office and acquire University students’ Car Stickers to be able to use them beyond the terminal points mentioned above.

According to the statement sighted by Thriller News GH, effective Monday, February 01, 2021, these rules shall be strictly enforced on KNUST campus.
