The insurgence of the novel covid-19 outbreak which had put a lot of activities to a halt including educational institutions, has paved the way for drastic decisions to be taken which called for a partial break of schools in March 2020 in the country.
At the time of this break, plans to elect various SRC, JCRC, and departmental executives were at advanced stages but could not be executed.
The recent announcement by the president for all schools to be reopened and therefore for academic work to resume has left many students asking when the curtains will be raised for the election process to resume and voting to be done.
The UCC management that oversees electoral matters has recently released a schedule with regards to the election thereby paving way for the electoral process to resume.
Campaigns are to start January 19, 2021, and end on January 26, 2021. During these periods, there would be JCRC Face to Face on January 22 & 23, SRC, L/NUGS & GRASAG Manifesto reading on ATL FM on January 25, whereas their Face to Face will be on the 26th day of January, to climax the campaign period.
There will be a day off from all electoral activities so that preparations will be made for the BIG DAY, January 28 when the main election will be held. On that same day, the results will be declared and the elected executives’ mantles will be handed over to them in the following few days. The JCRC handing over is scheduled for the 3rd & 4th of February while the SRC, L/NUGS, & GRASAG handing over is to take place on February 5, 2021.
We take this opportunity to wish all aspirants the very best in their campaigns.
