Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has been arrested by a team of heavily armed Police and military officers over a shooting incident in the constituency at about 2:35am.
The incident occurred about 9 hours after voting ended.
About 16 young men who were with the Legislator were also arrested and sent to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.
At about 11pm on the day of voting(December 7, 2020) supporters of Nii Lante Vanderpuye and his closest contender, Nii Lante Bannerman burst into jubilation with both groups claiming victory.
GHONE News Kwaku Temeng reports that there were sporadic shootings in the area resulting in some persons sustaining varying degrees of injury and unconfirmed deaths.
Lawyer for Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Oscar Anim expressed surprise over the arrest and vowed to ensure that his client is given justice.
