Newly elected Executives of Social Sciences Society of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, has been firmly asked to take over the administration of the Society amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was disclosed in a communique released by the public relations office of the society on Tuesday, 14 July, 2020.
According to the statement, this is only plausible when the Society is unable to hold handing over ceremony as is the case this year.

It is with a heartfelt fervour that we send our warm regards to the good people of the Social Sciences Society, KNUST. We hope this message finds you safe and in good spirit.
As stipulated by the SOCIOSO CONSTITUTION 2018 as amended, Chapter 10, Article 28; 7, 6 respectively, “all offices shall be held for two successive semesters” and “At the end of the tenure of office, a handing over ceremony shall be held at most twenty-eight 28 days after elections to swear into office all officers-elect.”
However, due to uncontrollable situations which caused the forceful termination of the semester in turn causing the impossibility of events, no ceremony was held in that regard.
Therefore in accordance with these provisions of the People’s Basic Law, the Newly Elected Officers of the Society after necessary consultations with relevant stakeholders have come to a conclusion to take over office and ‘act’ as executives until situations turn out differently.
Notwithstanding the fact that, no chapter or article of the constitution provides for such exact ruling, this happens to be a derivative of several other articles that disallow the existence of the General Assembly without an Executive Committee.
Finally, we continue to pray and hope that the sun shines again on us as we continue to observe all safety protocols and protect ourselves in this pandemic period.
