Following Thrillernewsgh.com earlier reports that the management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology will continue with the remainder of the second semester’s academic work online as earlier planned, Many students have asked how permission could be granted by management so they could come for their items in the halls and respective hostels.
We bring to you all you need to know about issues with students’ belongings.
The SRC parliamentary council of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology hinted two weeks ago that students will be granted permission to come for their belongings on campus if the ban on schools are not lifted.
Ultimately, President Akufo Addo on Sunday, May 31, 2020 announced that all final year JHS, SHS and university students were to return to school on June 15 to complete preparations for their exit exams.
But Prior to Management meeting held on Thursday, 4th June 2020, the University maintained that the rest of the academic work will be carried out online as planned.
The University also maintained that final year students will not return to campus on the 15th as proposed by government. Instead, they will continue with the old arrangement of virtual teaching and assessment for all year groups. Lecturers are therefore to continue engaging their students online.
Consequently, the second semester will officially end online.
Based on the statement released by the SRC Parliamentary Council two weeks ago, it’s expected that the University will release an official communique directing students to come for their belongings after successful completion of the semester online or a period they may deem it appropriate.
The statement from the University will include all social and protective protocols students would be entreated to observe when coming for their items.
As it stands, Students who are on campus will remain tenants in all Hostels and Halls until the semester is over. Hostel Managers are in no position to threaten students to move out of their rooms until the semester is over.
Students are, however, advised to disregard the rumour about Students’ belongings being moved from their halls of residence to the KNUST SRC hostel as its totally untrue.
More details about students belongings; whether students will be given some part of their hostel\hall fees, date of coming for their items, etc to be released in an official statement by the University soon.
