Universities around the country have started taking measures to discourage participants from transmitting the deadly novel corona-virus in their populations.
Notable universities such as university of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast came out earlier to outline measures to tackle this menace.
KNUST, the premier science and technology university in Ghana is the latest University join the academia combat to tackle the spread of covid-19 amongst students.
Following the epidemic which has since been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation, approximately over 60 reported cases have occurred in Ghana with tests performed proving 2 cases positive so far.
CORONAVIRUS CONFIRMED IN GHANA
The cases were confirmed on Thursday, March 12, 2020, according to the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu.
In a televised addressed Thursday evening from the Ministry of Education, the Health Minister said the two cases were the first cases reported in Ghana.
“At the same time, laboratory tests of the two confirmed cases were obtained from the Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research.

Coming into direct contact with droplets sprayed through coughing or sneezing by infected people
Coming into Contact with surfaces, objects and equipment contaminated by infectious materials from an infected person.
Symptoms and Signs: Infection may start with sore throat, running nose, fever, and cough.This may later progress to difficulty in breathing and shortness of breath.
Preventive Measures
Avoiding close contact (at least 1 meter) with people suffering from acute respiratory infections.
Good respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette i.e. sneezing/coughing into the linen-covered elbow.
Frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizers, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment. In case of symptoms suggestive of respiratory illness either during or after travel, travelers are to seek immediate medical attention and share their travel history with their healthcare provider.
