Gov’t to provide SHS students with tablets by April – Education Minister

The Ministry of Education, Ghana, has revealed plans by the government to distribute tablets to senior high school students by April 2024.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the minister of education, announced that the government is set to distribute over 1.4 million tablets to SHS students under the free SHS policy.

Speaking at the speech and prize-giving day of Wesley Girl’s High School, the education minister stated that the initiative is intended to enhance teaching and learning in the country’s numerous public high schools.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum stated that the distribution will take place in the next two months.

“I am happy to tell you that within the next two months, every single student in this school will have a tablet computer,” he revealed.

”We are building a learning management system, so all teachers are going to be trained, and you will do your homework and class activities online.”

Additionally, the education minister noted that plans are underway to introduce more smart boards to create a fully immersive, technology-driven educational environment.

“So, if you have support, it should be getting more smart boards so that it will be a 360-degree smart, technology-driven environment,” Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said.
