KNUST SRC donates over GHC 6,000 to aid surgery of medical student

The Students Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST SRC) has donated over GHC 6,000 to Miss Rita Adjoa Abodoh, a fourth-year medical student of the University.

The Students Representative Council led by the President, Master Samuel Sesah made the donation to provide financial support to enable Rita Adjoa Abodoh undergo treatment for a malignant tumour in her right pelvic bone.

The treated is estimated to cost 150,000 Euros.

Speaking with Thriller News GH, Master Samuel Sesah said the donation was funded by contributions from KNUST-Obuasi Campus, various Colleges, Halls of the University, some departments, GRASAG-KNUST, and other individuals.

Receiving the cash, Rita and her family expressed gratitude to the KNUST SRC for the kind gesture and also briefed them on the progress so far.

The KNUST SRC prayed with Rita’s family and wished her a speedy recovery.

The Council has also urged other individuals to contribute to the lifesaving course.

Background

Miss Rita Adwoa Abodoh is a Fourth year Medical student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology reading BSc. Human Biology.

Over months now, Miss Rita Adwo Abodoh has been battling with bone cancer that needs fund to undergo a medical surgery.

An estimated cost of her surgery is a minimum amount of 150,000 Euros for extensive surgery to remove an affected bone to be replaced with a prosthesis.

Meanwhile, Medical Students of the University of Ghana, Legon, KNUST chapter of Ghana Association of University Administrators have presented Ghc40,000.00 and Ghc12,000.00 respectively to the family of Rita to aid her of the surgery.
