Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Association of KNUST launches Covid-19 Task Force

The Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Association (MATESA) of the College of Engineering, KNUST has launched a Covid-19 safety task force team. The inauguration of the task force took place the day students arrived on campus following the directive of the University.

The Covid-19 task force core duty is to ensure that students of the association, the college and the school at large adhere strictly to the covid-19 safety protocols outlined by the University management. The task force team has been approved by the head of department and they function on behalf of the association.

The team consists of two students from each of the MATESA classes and other voluntary students from the association. The task force have started working already as they have been seen helping and making sure students observe the covid-19 safety protocols during the orientation of the first years and the biometric registration process of the continuing students.

Speaking with Thriller News GH, the association president, Julius Boakye Kakra said “We are to be each other’s keeper, let us observe all the protocols oultined by the authorities on Covid-19. This too shall pass until then, let us flow with the new normal i.e washing and sanitizing of the hands regularly, wearing of nose mask and observing the social distancing rule”.

  1. Bravo. You have started well.
    But there are no sanitising facilities infront of your department office.
    Do like chemical engineering is doing.
    It would also be nice if every classroom had a sanitizer dispenser in front of it.

    1. Yes I’m sure that’s why the task force has been set up. It is a very good initiative. Please help us reduce the spread. For MATESA I trust they can deliver.
